I love “facsimile editions” of classic comics. Just finished reading the Facsimile Edition of New Fun #1 (February 1935), the first comic published by DC Comics. It’s an oversized epic containing humor, western, adventure, & crime comics. It‘s a unique piece of comic history…

Just finished reading Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson about a girl trying to uncover what happened when her best friend goes missing (when no one else seems to care). It’s a great read but the story is HEAVY. It nearly wrecked me.

Just finished the novel BOOM TOWN, about a former dancer who investigates when a local dancer goes missing. I saw a review saying this book is “like Gone Girl meets P-Valley” and, if that doesn’t make you wanna read it, I don’t know what will.

Just finished reading Kyle Baker’s comic biography of Nat Turner. He truly does Turner’s story justice in graphically portraying the brutality he endured in slavery, how literacy & faith shaped his life, as well as how he led the famous rebellion. A powerful read.

Just finished reading the first issue of Radioactive Spider-Man. I know it’s part of Age of Revelation, but overall I enjoyed this unique take on the character. Looking forward to how they deal with the fallout. Don‘t know if I can look at Aunt May the same way, though.

#MarvelComics issue #1 was published by Timely Publications on this day in 1939, laying the foundation for what would eventually become the Marvel Comics Group. Marvel would, of course, go on to become one of the largest and most popular entertainment companies in the world.

I’m always going to want more Black Panther so I eagerly snatched up the Imperial War: Black Panther one-shot. Though not a perfect story, it’s refreshing to see T’Challa being written by someone who doesn’t hate him and for him to be the strong, smart hero he truly is.

Just finished reading the Imperial one-shot starring She-Hulk. As a She-Hulk fan, I enjoyed the story for what it was, with her on Skaar trying to solve a unique murder mystery. Most of the story seemed to lead nowhere, but it had an interesting turn towards the end.

Curious to know what your thoughts are on chapter lengths. As a reader, I’m not a big fan of long chapters. As a writer, I just feel it out until the scene feels done and then I move on. I want to know what you all think. What’s the set page count for a chapter? #writingcommunity

Just finished watching the final season of Squid Game and…what the heck was that? I mean, it had its moments (especially during the hide & seek and jump rope games and a few good character moments) but the rest was trash. And don’t get me started on the ending. What do y’all think?

Just finished the first issue of the new Krypto series. Normally, I wouldn’t have picked up a Krypto comic but it’s a fun story with special appeal for dog lovers. And that ending was definitely…unexpected. Can’t wait to see how THAT plays out.

My favorite of all the books I’ve written so far. Mouse on the Mic—it’s about a city mouse named Madison with dreams of rap stardom. Think of it as Disney meets 8 Mile. It’s funny, tragic, & insane.
