Harmony Korine once said you couldn’t make “Kids” nowadays because the characters could just call or text each other. I feel like this movie’s the same way: his whole problem is he doesn’t have cash for transportation. Nowadays he could just call an Uber.

If it is true that the vast majority of Southerners had no personal stake in chattel slavery, why aren't you telling their story? Why is it all plantations, and belles, and *ahem* slavery as a benevolent institution "that was on its way out anyway," etc. etc.?
