Always remarkable to learn something new even in an area you've read a lot about. I'd always thought the WWII destroyers for bases deal was part of Lend-Lease, but a. it was actually a year earlier, and b. it was seen as hugely slanted to the U.S. side. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destroy...
