Something I've done for several authors is a custom photoshoot with a model. This way the author get's images that are unique to them and will never show up on another author's covers, unlike stock images.

This was a science fiction cover I completed thats are more in the realm of Hard Science Fiction, meaning it has a basis in real science and fact.
