We can use this as an opportunity to assuage ourselves about how we're the Good Guys who would never, or we can ask some hard questions about what actually makes humans go against the collective good and do harm, and what we can do to fix the rot within our social systems.
Can people with bad political beliefs change?
100% of the people we need to talk to in order to grow the movement have some weird and harmful beliefs. We still need to build with them.

I’ve enjoyed hacking the game economy by watching cards erode in value while variants retain theirs.

I’ve been working towards this goal for 2 and a half years, but Second Dinner just decided to trample on the little guy again.

I make games because I have insomnia and I’m too old to go out dancing every night.

I’m also going to do an approximately an hour long presentation on this later on this year if my submission gets accepted to the conference I want to present at.

Having done this for both board games and TTRPGs, I’m happy to share some thoughts.

A 22 episode network TV show gives you the flexibility to course correct midseason as you’re still making the season when the first episodes air. So you had the confidence that you can respond to current events, even if you don’t ever have to.

So how do you get a contemporary sci fi show made without those.

A) You find a week to week formula that doesn’t depend on the sci fi but allows you to introduce it when needed.
B) You put it on network television.

Which is why sci fi in contemporary times gives itself an out: it’s either apoyptic (Pluribus), or involves time travel or parallel worlds or aliens that allow the makers to hand wave away the differences.
