i think it’s so important that when I advocate for disabled s*x, I also tell you that sometimes I hate disabled sexuality too. I hate the ableism that comes with it, always adapting when you just wanna be with someone. Talking about disability means talking about the harder stuff too.

disabled people deserve personal space
I was on the train home tonight after a holiday gathering with my family. I was absent mindedly looking at my iPhone, not paying attention. All of a sudden, a woman was right in front of me; her hand out-stretched, offering me a chocolate. I politely declined her, and said “thank you”, but I noticed she didn’t offer it to anyone else on the train. I suspect she was being kind to me, but please remember... disabled people deserve personal space too.

Just wanna put this somewhere.
Lots of times I struggle with actually liking my reality as a severely disabled person. It can be difficult to feel that in full, because of all the masking that I often have to do to receive the care I need (e.g. fearing that if I don’t “stay positive” I won’t be helped). Just wanted to name that somewhere.

I joined the United States International Council on Disabilities this year. This org does important work for disabled people worldwide. Every year they have a gala to celebrate, organize and raise funds so they can keep doing the work. Join us Dec 3 2025 from 6:30-8 p.m. EST on zoom. Info below.

Disabled people deserve space to say, I hate my disability today, but that doesn’t mean I hate it everyday or all the time. There’s so much more nuance around disability than we bother to understand.

Ableism isn't a good look WestJet
WestJet has a new policy that doesn’t allow power wheelchair users who have a wheelchair weighing 300lbs. to fly with them citing “weight requirements.” The average power wheelchair user will have a custom chair that will probably weigh around 300 lbs. WestJet’s slogan is currently, “where your story takes off.” My story can’t go anywhere because of your ableist, discriminatory policies.
