People aren’t broken. The deal is. And until that changes, no tax tweak or soundbite is going to fix the UK economy.

I don’t think people are lazy. I think we’re disillusioned.

You can only tell people to “work harder” for so long when they’re already giving everything and getting nothing back.

I’ll be honest- I’m fed up. We’re heading into another Budget that’ll tax us again, and what do we get in return?

Crumbling services, record rents, and media headlines calling us “lazy.”

It’s time to stop lecturing workers - and start rebuilding the deal between effort and reward.

We can’t “boost productivity” until people believe the system works for them again.

Fix trust, and the economy will follow.

The next social contract should focus on:
🧠 Free lifelong learning
🏡 Housing as a right, not an asset
💻 Work-life balance over hours logged
💷 Taxing wealth fairly
❤️ Health and wellbeing as infrastructure

Productivity can’t rise in a country that’s exhausted.

People aren’t machines - they need security, housing, purpose, and fair pay.

When effort no longer equals reward, motivation collapses. That’s not laziness - it’s logic.
