Yeah man, come on by! We’re casting real actors for all the human Loony Tunes.

Glad to see Johnny Cash finally being acknowledged by the arbiters of cool at the Wall Street Journal.

Compared to Dylan and Springsteen, country-music legend Johnny Cash can seem deeply uncool. It took time for me to appreciate his profound, plainspoken strength, writes Jon Fasman.

yeah might as well have the tylenol at that point. if you're kid's already going to have to grow up inside out I don't think autism is really going to move the needle.

In Star Trek V they send the mid refit, skeleton crewed Enterprise out hostage recovery because they "don't have experienced captains in the area"
Hey, maybe you would have more captains if you weren't keeping the entire 2260s Enterprise bridge crew together. Chekov was an XO in Wrath of Khan.

My kids are in CanSkate this year, which means at least the four year old is probably two weeks away from being a better skater than me. I'm really starting to think I squandered my years of peak neuroplasticity.

Canadian tire needs to go like, fifty percent less hard on the Halloween decorations section. Last time my wife took our three year old daughter there they had to run straight to the back to avoid the section and she was still talking about it five hours later.

"How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm down on the farm, after they've seen The Bean?"

they have their guys in every layer of government, who do they think is still doing this?

It’s not at all part of my tradition but I have to hand it to them, the all black suit with the clerical collar looks extremely sick. And all due respect to letting not the right hand know what the left is doing I think there’s a value in being out there visibly getting pepper sprayed protesting ICE

I think where it all when wrong is when we started letting people buy and sell “the idea of pigs later” we let them get away with that and now they’re going to crash the global economy by selling the same graphics card back and forth for more and more money.

Disneys Robin Hood establishes that King Richard went on the third crusade because he had been hypnotized by Sir Hiss. Which is a good call because it would be kind of hard to really celebrate his return if we knew he had recently been real gung ho to do a holy war.

I really like the discordant effect of "standard Star Trek matte painting building in the Brutalist LA municipal building style" on a foggy gothic moor.

Who called it sunbathing and not “catching some rays?”

In honor of National Poetry Day, the greatest parody rewrite of all time:
Screen cap of parodic version of William Blake's "The Tyger" that begins:
Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright
(Not sure if I spelled that right)
What immortal hand or eye
Could fashion such a stripy guy?
What the hammer that hath hewn it
Into such a chonky unit?
Did who made the lamb make thee,
Or an external franchisee?

Off hand the big ones they miss are:
This Guy is Here to Cause Problems (and Has Powers Beyond Human Understanding)
[pretty overplayed by the end of TOS]
and
War is Hell
[because they stopped doing movies before they got to DS9]

An underrated thing about the Star Trek movies is that they managed to do one to in just about all the major genres of Star Trek episodes.

I do feel a bit weird about people making up slurs for AI, but because I think it grants AI too much personhood and also I feel like racism is to insidious to deploy ironically without poisoning yourself a bit.

But that’s distinct from just accurately describing AI as not a being.

People who drank or used will talk about feeling like hypocrites warning their children off drugs or alcohol, and I fundamentally disagree, but in the other hand my kid starts building a stuffed animal fort in bed when he should be sleeping and it’s like “well who am I to complain?”

C’mon Spock, you could have had this on the calendar before we ever left Spacedock on our five year mission.

I think baseline it should be illegal for anyone to have headlights so bright that anyone else using headlight can see their own shadow driving in front of it them.

Imagine if when Mel Blanc was in that coma the doctor had instead come in and said “how are you doing today, Jack Benny’s car?”

I think they were too hard on invention which managed to produce ten federal patents in six years.
