Locus Magazine is a vital resource for writers - and a great place for readers to learn of new writers and fiction; I read it every month, taking note of new markets - and of works to put on my to-be-read stack
Today is the very LAST day to double your gift to Locus this year!

Movies series about mysteries keep running into the same problem - the first movie's title is appropriate for the first movie, but the series is then stuck with that title theme. (1/2)

I've been bingeing @hugogirlpodcast.bsky.social for months and I've never replied with my most important deets - my history with Moby Dick. I read it in HS in 1982 or so. In spite of my teacher's suggestion, I read all the chapters (whale-centered exposition is the best exposition) and loved it.

My first published story isn't online any more - but I found it on the Internet Archive - forgive the long URL, but here's "Does Earth Have a Future?" which might be more on-topic this year than in 2020

@scalzi.com: Was just discussing Starter Villain with my book club. Are we correct in seeing a reference to Atlas Shrugged in this passage: "Harden’s grandfather nearly bankrupted the company with an ill-fated proprietary alloy that was marketed as stronger and lighter than steel."?

Just saw a fun movie (brand new - from 2012!) "The History of Future Folk" (available on Youtube here www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2oK... - all about a couple of aliens who come to Earth to invade, but prefer to be folk singers instead. Highly recommended
