Thanks for all the interest in the Technology-Driven Moral Panics timeline! This has now been cleaned up, an About section added and -- most importantly -- an AI follow-up link added to every entry.

This was supposed to be a quick coffee break project -- it sort of grew!

Couldn't find a good technology-fueled moral panic timeline, so I made this (with a little help): techlashed.org

After co-hosting with her for years we finally got former Astronaut Cady Coleman on the other side of the microphone in this week's episode of Modem Futura -- an amazing conversation with a wonderful friend!

I believe with all the fuss over bananas as art it's time to resurface this masterpiece 😊

Watching Contact in my Moviegoer's Guide to the Future class tomorrow – I have such a soft spot for this film! On one level it's a love letter to science from Carl Sagan. It's also a wonderful opener for deep conversations around science, society and the future.

If you have a set of the Feynman Lectures post a photo and say when you got them - mine were given me by a friend of the family in 1984

Just came across this beautiful blast from the past in a folder that dates back to high school in the early 1980’s - a stash of pristine graph paper!

Thursday's is my absolute favorite class -- Pizza and a Slice of Future, where a multigenerational group of learners get together in a purposely designed "third space" to explore technology and the future -- all while eating Pizza. Unique, transformative, and satisfying on many levels 😁

This feels very Arizona - a 260 mile round trip for an evening talk at Sedona Public Library 😊

On the first day of the semester I had so many students asking where their class was that I put this board outside our space. What happened: they kept asking, oblivious of the board. Truly believe people are losing spatial awareness in the digital age!

Random piece of street art, just because … (Bali Festival Park)

Time to work!

Zooming from a Bali resort with a student shortly and debating whether I should full-on globetrotting prof mode and join from outside, or just stick to the hotel room.

I know what I *should* do!

Forget the major tourist attractions in Bali, I *love* the grunginess of Bali Festival Park - a derelict and overgrown theme park with brilliant graffiti

These Midjourney images didn't make the cut for tomorrow's article that touches on AI, Plato's Cave, and permissionless innovation -- so I thought I'd release them into the wild here!
