My schedule for OryCon this weekend in Portland includes panels about monsters, horror, craft of writing, or join me for a kaffeeklatsch where we can discuss even more of the same, and sip our favorite beverages.

Today’s bookmail brings me a title I’ve been looking forward to for some time. If you’ve not yet read Nadia Bulkin, you are missing great weird fiction!

My alter ego Rew X painted a big artwork with 70+ monsters for a generous backer to 3LBE magazine last year. Right now the magazine needs your support. Maybe you want some art rewards, or just love reading horror weird speculative fiction.

I savored every word reading this one. Several twists on an old narrative form with a fascinating use of language and history, drenched in blood, genocide, and revenge.

Libraries are awesome in so many ways, one of which is that if they don’t carry a book yet, you can ask them to order it. Here are a few that I requested recently at my local county, they let me know approved, and I’ve already checked out a few.

I love being able to suggest a book to my local library system. Here’s a few that they brought into circulation.

My collection Constellations of Ruin turns two today. If you haven’t read these tales of haunted schools, octopus secret missions, fungus marathons, invisible monsters, and ends of the world, I hope you will give it a chance so I can publish again some day.

On my birthday, I ask if you haven’t read my collection Constellations of Ruin—octopus mission, space fungi, haunted schools, fish spirits, demons aplenty—that you give it a try by ordering or making a library request. If you have enjoyed it, please rate-review online and loan to a friend.

I am humbled and thrilled to see my debut collection Constellations of Ruin mentioned in the 2023 yearly summation among so many great works in Ellen Datlow’s Best Horror of the Year Volume Sixteen. Looking forward to reading all those I missed!

If we just met or you missed it, my collection Constellations of Ruin (2023) contains stories of nomad islands, haunted schools, octopus secret missions, dancing houses, fungus janitors in space, semi-invisible monsters, and a few pieces of my heart. Please enjoy!

The pumpkins have been waiting very patiently on the front porch until tonight when they could join the rest of the decor in their true form.

Looking forward to the HPL Film Fest this weekend, because the intl cosmic horror is more stunning every year. Also, 6 blocks of author readings, and panels discussing everything from a century of sword & sorcery genre to nature inspiring horror. I’m over the moon to participate in a few of these.

After the Great Bone Wars of 2019, the osteomollusks and skeletarthropods burrowed into the earth to one day rise again. Their covert ops team learned to transform into inanimate objects and appear across the surface, in hopes the fleshlings and plants would not notice… until it was too late. 🦴💀
