It's like the fake names they'd give to guys in the old Fire Pro games. "The Hornet" The Spike.

Don't know what you mean.
George W. Bush is notified of the 9/11 attacks.

Subtle way of letting fans know they remember individual matches between guys and each bout has weight and stakes. How many times did we watch rivalries in WWE that just felt like they were rematching guys forever without rhyme or reason to fill out programming time?
andrewskeets.bsky.social
No no, that match was fine. Just the whole Cope interlude felt disconnected from everything else in the Death Riders arc.

1) They made legal turns. I think some of them didn't signal--oops, that's a citation, I guess.

2) Get some fucking perspective.

Imagine being concerned about the backlash from portraying a former slave fighting the Klan as the hero. Imagine how fucked your priorities have to be.
andrewskeets.bsky.social
It's a right turn on red. That's legal in most U.S. jurisdictions.

Stokely would probably agree.

I get why maybe they didn't want to do that if they knew Mariah was headed for the door, but man, it would have felt like a much better formatted show.

That would be Marko Stunt.

I think there's a difference between "the way this story is booked isn't vibing with me" and "Mox is washed, pack him up."
andrewskeets.bsky.social
Oh yeah, Naito shit the bed in both his matches with Mox last year, and if Mox's motivation to perform took a dip for a bit as a result, can't say I would have blamed him. Not sure I saw any of that, though.

At the time, it felt like a cynical move to sell PPVs and tickets to a big California show, and nothing since then has led me to revise that perception.
andrewskeets.bsky.social
I think his matches were generally just fine throughout his whole title run. His stuff with Cope wasn't good (street fight was okay with a memorable spot), but I don't think the lackluster stuff with Cope was on him.
andrewskeets.bsky.social
One caveat: the Mox/Cope Revolution match was the clear low point of the story, with a plodding Fed-style match that capped a story turn that felt disconnected from everything that came before, as well as after they did the street fight a couple weeks later. That sucked. I get that hate.

I always piss people off when I say this, but I will continue to assert a significant contingent of the naysayers got worked. The heel kept winning and they got mad, so they attributed the problem to Mox personally rather than admit they were being marks.

Having a big LMAO moment with all the praise and cheers for Mox today and nodding enegetically in approval to TK's words about him. A WHOLE BUNCH OF YOU just a half year ago ago were calling Mox washed and saying he should Dean Ambrose his way back to WWE.
andrewskeets.bsky.social
Sorry if you feel seen, but, uh, ask yourself why you do.

It's okay to get invested in stuff and want your special boy to win, but be honest about it.

I'd put him over if Fletcher were going to be quickly ascending to the world title. Given I think they burned off Fletcher challenging for the world title last month, I think he's better served holding onto the TNT belt for about a year. Briscoe can take a loss, it's fine.
