Today’s Rose of the Day is Peach Perfection, aka Catherine Hershey. This floribunda rose was bred by Brad Jalbert in Canada and has exceptionally good health, and is a prolific bloomer. It grows into a compact, rounded, well-branched shrub, perfect for the front of the flower bed.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Blue Moon Stone. This shrub rose was bred by Junko Kawamoto in Japan and has delicate, fragrant lavender and ivory flowers. My shrub is three years old and still very small, despite being in a full-sun spot, but it’s got healthy foliage and makes lots of flowers.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Liebeszauber, or ‘Love’s Magic,’ a hybrid tea bred by Kordes in Germany. This rose has very large, fragrant, long-lasting blooms. It’s healthy, as well.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Love, a grandiflora rose bred by William Warriner in the US. Grandiflora roses are a cross between a hybrid tea and a floribunda, and usually have the spray blooms of a floribunda and the large flowers of a hybrid tea. Love is a beautiful rose, with striking colors.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Duke of Edinburgh, a Hybrid Perpetual rose bred in the UK, circa 1868, by George Paul. This rose is very healthy, and is a vigorous grower in my garden. The flowers are fragrant and just glow.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Amber Sun, a shrub rose bred by Kordes in Germany. Amber Sun is a semi-double rose, with fragrant blooms growing in clusters. The leaves are healthy and the shrub is a nice round shape with good branching.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Tiffany, a magnificent hybrid tea bred in the 1950’s by Robert Lindquist in the US. The shrub is vigorous and healthy, and grows in a nice, sturdy vase shape. The flowers are large, fragrant, and very substantial, with thick petals that last a while before shattering.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Pretty Lady Rose. This lightly fragrant hybrid tea was bred by Christian Bédard in the US. It has really good health, and the flowers are large and last a while on the shrub. They do well in a vase, too.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Archduke Charles, a China rose bred by Dubourg or Laffay (accounts vary) in 1820’s France. It’s possibly a seedling or sport of Old Blush-these older roses often have their mysteries. It’s a healthy rose for me, and the blooms have a light fragrance and neat colors.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Samantha. This hybrid tea rose was bred by William Warriner in the US, back in the 1970’s. It has a light fragrance and the flowers are a mood-lifting bright red.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Dylan Rose, a floribunda bred by Brad Jalbert in Canada. This rose blooms in huge flushes with a fast repeat. It has a light fragrance, grows quickly into a neat vase shape, and is exceptionally healthy.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Moonlight in Paris, the rose that got me back into growing roses again, after a long break. This shrub rose with its fragrant, ethereal flowers was bred by Delbard in France. The flowers range from a blush pink to nearly white to apricot, depending on the season.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Scarborough Fair, a shrub rose bred by David Austin in the UK. This semi-double rose is fragrant and quite healthy in my garden. The bees love the open centers, and this rose sets very pretty hips for fall and winter interest. This is a lovely rose.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Royal Sunrise. This pretty shrub rose was bred by Mike Shoup in Texas, USA. It does get some blackspot, for now, but I’m hoping to see that diminish as the root system matures. The flowers are just delightful, and fragrant, too.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Foxy Lady, a floribunda rose bred by Brad Jalbert in Canada. This would be one of my favorites just for the unique coloring of the flowers, but its great health and vitality put it over the top.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Rosemantic Cream. This gorgeous floribunda rose was bred by Bernard Sauvageot in France. It’s exceptionally healthy, vigorous and is often covered in fragrant blooms.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Pink Peace. This unabashedly pink hybrid tea was bred by Francis Meilland in France and is as fragrant as it is bright. Mine is relatively healthy in summer, but struggles with my cold, wet winters. It’s beautiful, though.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Crocus Rose, a shrub rose bred by David Austin in the UK. This is a very healthy and vigorous rose, and the flowers are large and beautiful.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Mevrouw Nathalie Nypels, a Polyantha rose bred by Mathias Leenders in the Netherlands, circa 1919. Polyanthas generally do very well for me, and this rose is no exception. The flowers are fragrant, pretty and abundant; and the leaves look quite healthy.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Wellenspiel, a shrub rose bred by Kordes in Germany. This remarkably healthy shrub has huge, beautiful, fragrant blooms in large flushes. It’s a perfect pink rose if you like that sort of thing, and I very much do like it!

Today’s Rose of the Day is Tricolore de Flandre, an old once-blooming Gallica rose bred in Belgium in the 1840’s by Louis-Joseph-Ghislain Parementier. Gallica roses, as a class, are very healthy. Gallicas are also known for suckering on their own roots. 😱. Hoping this one won’t do much of that!

Today’s Rose of the Day is Fire Opal, a floribunda bred by Kordes in Germany as part of their “Kolorscape” series. This shrub is compact, bushy, very healthy and has gorgeous colors. The flowers start out mostly white and fade to pink. It has huge flushes of flowers, and is gorgeous in bloom!

Today’s Rose of the Day is Pink Enchantment (aka ‘Souvenir de Baden-Baden’) a hybrid tea rose bred by Kordes in Germany as part of their Eleganza collection. In my garden, this rose is most beautiful in the fall when the weather’s cool. It’s a tall, bushy shrub, very healthy and fragrant.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Roxanne Veranda. This shrub rose was bred by the Kordes company in Germany as part of their Veranda series of roses you can keep in planters on your patio. It has loads of petal-packed, bright red flowers. It’s very healthy and stays a manageable size.

Today’s Rose of the Day is Poetry, a lightly fragrant floribunda rose bred by Kordes in Germany. Mine was planted as a bareroot last spring, and has grown into a lovely, 5’ tall vase-shaped shrub in just one season. It’s very healthy and disease-resistant, and is a beautiful rose in the landscape.
