PS - The fact that the media was informed of the NEC decision before I was tells you everything you need to know about the way the Labour Party is being run these days.

You would think that over 30 years of service would count for something but sadly not. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tomorrow I will return with full focus to my role as Mayor of Greater Manchester, defending everything we have built in our city-region over many years.

I decided to put myself forward to prevent the divisive politics of Reform damaging that. We are stronger together and let’s stay that way. 💪🏻

I’m actually saying something very different, Ian: that the Right put us in this position as a low-growth UK through deindustrialisation, privatisation, austerity and Brexit. We can’t ignore the markets and can reassure them through a more collaborative politics investing to reverse this damage.

I left feeling inspired by Dr Agam Jung, who cared for Rob, and by the thought of creating a Rob Burrow Centre on our side of the Pennines.
