They are in government in Northern Ireland. The NI First Minister is SF. If you want a view of a SF government check the North. You may or may not like what you see.

Violence and death in Northern Ireland over a couple of decades could be part of it! It certainly is for me having grown up on the border in the 70s and 80s.

Nowadays being populist and having no true values is reason enough.

Most winners are a bit like that. But I don't understand how that impacts our PR system. Unless those who represent your views aren't trying hard enough to win.

I do believe there are political groups especially on the left who are quite happy with heroic failure. 🥴

Has it been a lack of suitable candidates or political parties? Is it the post-election bargaining? Because it's hard to think of a system more representative than PR-STV.

Or is it just hard to create a government that represents a million different views on a gazillion different issues?

Given what's been reported about how she represented clients she may not have seen eye to eye with, I'm choosing to be optimistic that she'll perform her presidential duties with similar respect for convention.
