The harvesting methodology for my current coppice site is that the timber product is being cut on one side of the machine whilst all the brash is being stacked on the other.

The brash will then be extracted, chipped and allowed to break down in a heap. 1/2

And just to drive home the point, here's the link to the video again.

It is incredibly disappointing that attempts at rational debate with a balanced opinion so often decend into insults. Not cool.

Emma Dow stops for a moment and chews on her next words carefully. Sitting on the stump of an oversized spruce, felled moments ago by the 28-year-old, she decides to go for it. “Being in the woods has helped me,” she says. “It’s probably saved my life.”

Short 🧵:

The Working Woods Hub has it all. It's a place: a woodland where they demonstrate different forestry management practices and landowners can come see the results.

Why have you published an article about carbon projects without bothering to speak to anyone actually involved with carbon projects ?
andyheald.bsky.social
“Allegedly experienced” ?
andyheald.bsky.social
In my experience investors in carbon projects have a range of objectives and interests.
Unsurprisingly the @theguardian.com couldn’t be bothered to actually speak to anyone involved with either developing or investing in carbon projects.
Much easier to just cut & paste the press release …

Based on some breakfast googling -

There would seem to be an expectation of reasonable inspection and maintenance - if you live in an older building with big chimneys in a windy city is it reasonable to have them occasionally checked ?

Another example of the link between forest products and a lower carbon more circular bio-based economy.

This is why we need materials engineers and architects in land use discussions.

Clear case law for trees to be regularly inspected by competent individuals, I assume the same must be true for chimneys ?
