Other than being a random rare scenario, it's just not a fact that the game is a "free roll" for ND... If we were to get blown out by USC it's not like we'd stay in the top 12.

In a system where winning matters more than opponent quality, everyone shares that same incentive to schedule as easy as possible.

This doesn't logically make sense - #9 ranked ND loses to #15 USC does not inherently mean ND stays in the top 12 and triggers an auto bid? In that same scenario Notre Dame would be incentivized to play the worst team possible too.

The real question is if you had 16 carries behind Alabama's offensive line, could you rush for more than negative 3 yards?

We aren't talking enough that these two head coaches coached on the same high school JV staff. That's nuts
