They didn't really have any political savvy in opposition. They were alienating their base long before the keys to no10 were handed to them by the Tories.

No they didn't have 'everything going for them'. Its very clear that the Tories support collapsed, which is what gave them a large majority not that there was any love for Labour. Aping Reform and alienating the left is never going to win you support.
