To be honest it's mainly about records. MDANT🏅 unlikely though that seems

My latest monthly playlist is now up on Spotify. A varied selection of old, new and new to me records inspired by the change in the season and recovering my health. I hope there's something in the selection that makes you dig further.

I haven't watched this since it first came out (2010) and it's a brilliant piece of television, that manages to tell the story of Carlos the Jackal without making him some sort of glamorous anti hero. Edgar Ramirez should have been huge after this.

Thanks Ian, I've got a feeling that things are starting to fall into place health wise, not counting my chickens yet though.

Thanks Mark, hopefully the playlist will help ease your way through the autumn

Thanks Paula, luckily things were all scheduled rather than being rushed in to hospital, so the recovery seems to be slightly easier

Perfect. The whole thing reminds me of the Not the Nine o Clock News bit about John Gielgud seeing no mention of sex and violence on the cheque he received for Caligula.

I have been criticised for being part of the Riyadh comedy festival. This is why I did it -

No worries, it's so easy to miss stuff on social media. Thanks for the good wishes

Health update...much much better. Bruising has gone, only a few occasional aches and twinges. Still finding out what foods can be tolerated but feeling pretty good.

And then to have the balls to write such a load of self justifying belly aching about it. If you needed the money fine (if you can live with the decision) but don't dress it up as some moral trying to change the system from within nonsense

Omid would have found the comedy festival morally repugnant if there'd been a couple less zeros on the pay cheque.

'GPs behind Closed Doors' is one of those shows that often reveals as much about the state of the country as it does about individual health problems.

It's a great bit of world creating by Tarantino. It's a place to escape into.

Yeah, I was just saying exactly that to my son. Such an enjoyable watch.

I know Handsworth well. I love it. The Soho Road is one of the most vibrant streets in the world. I was attached to the library there for a writing project last year and I wrote a whole chunk about it in my book Hope And Glory. Read it if you get a chance
