Choughs produce different #alarm calls according to the threat type and urgency. Field #experiments demonstrated that alarm-call #playbacks alone were sufficient to elicit appropriate responses. Intriguingly, 'bulging' eyes occurred with one call type and might enhance alarm #communication.
