TV Editor. Producer of LampLight Radio Play podcast. Indoor rock climber with outdoor gear that doesn't get used enough. The word's most famous detective.
Here's a photo of me about to fall off a roof.

("Roof" is climbing jargon for an overhang that is horizontal.)

Our TV died. My 12 year old daughter and I took it apart, diagnoses it, put it back together and bought a replacement part, waited three days, took it apart again, installed the replacement part, put it back together and it still didn't work, so we poked around with 24v power supply...

I had so much fun doing that AI slop video that I was looking through some other AI podcasts to see if I could do another one.

And even when they talk about different things, they are all somehow the same.

I took some episodes of one of those AI slop podcasts, cut them up and turned them into a song. Then I made a video using creatice commons photos of dolls.

I know that everything is awful, but last week my washing machine died. I watched a youtube video, ordered the part and tools, they arrived the next day, and then I fixed my washing machine. Total cost: $40

Today, our TV died. Watched some videos, just ordered the part from ebay....

Firefox for the win
Help out a moron, folks. Because I’m missing something. Perhaps a visual example will help me understand.

Quote boost this. Tell me what app you are using in said boosted toot.

I wanna see if I can see quoted toots on Ivory if the boost-tooter is not an Ivory user.

Toronto gets the film production jobs, we get the series. I'd reverse those, if I could.

Shit, I went tribal pretty quick there

This is about non-fiction, but man if these lessons don't apply to fiction...How you frame the important moments is so important. Writing with imagery.

Humor funny vs Comedy funny is a good way to think about it.
“When I sit down to build a radio piece, it feels like building a road in the air. I have a bunch of pieces of tape that I like, and they’re floating islands with no obvious connection between them. Funny can help with the construction.”

In 2015, @pjvogt.bsky.social wrote about humor in audio.

I'd be a shitty

If the MPAA rated your life, would you be rated R or just PG-13?

There's an important lesson here: While recorders have improved in leaps and bounds over the past decade, these producers (who's work I envy) are still using the same mics and headphones as before...and they aren't the ones who I see the most ads for.
Mics, recorders, headphones… Oh my! Lots of decisions to make. But, overall, we stand by the Sony 7506 headphones. Beyond that, we have different preferences on which mics and sound recorders we use. Read our opinions from 2012 here:

There are plenty of people in the world who want to make you angry at capitalism or socialism, because then you aren't paying attention to the real problem with both of them -- which is corruption.
