without access to the screenplay for 3 I cannot check, but it does seem that there may be some limited black characters.

okay so based on cross referencing the imdb cast list with the screenplay there are black characters with speaking roles in 1 & 2.
1 has much more and has Michelle Rodriguez in a major role - Rodriguez identifies as Puerto Rican and Dominican and has African ancestry but does not identify as black

what threw me the most was the time gap between the prologue and series start. By being a prologue aired 3 months before the series it left me unsure if it was really canon and I went into episode 1 not even considering Suletta's identity

I think that there are other films and even genres that get less respect, but none at the scale of avatar. I wonder if some of it is just because of the delays for the second one?
