Just another victim of the ambient morality.

I was thinking more along the lines of getting groups like the Green/Libertarian/Pirate/etc. parties represented, without their candidates having to receive the blessing (as it were) of either of the two main parties.
Of course, that'd also mean doing away with FPTP voting...

I'd go beyond that and say we need a variety of *parties* represented.

Fortunately, once they realized the problem, they were quick to fix it, but still... a mathematical sanity check would have been a good idea!

The new shield they introduced?
The Mark 1 version of it had 372 shield capacity.
Guess what the Mark 3 version had...

Reminds me of when a game I used to play introduced a new type of shield for the spaceships in the game.
Each "mark" of a shield had twice the capacity of the mark below it (so a basic shield might have 50 shielding, a Mark 2 of the same type would have 100, etc). 1/2

Also: "Dammit, Jim! I'm a doctor, not a [whatever]!"
(The phrase "Dammit, Jim!" was never uttered, though there were several variants on "I'm a doctor, not..."; my personal favorite is from 'The Devil In The Dark': "I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer!")

IOW: we're trying to make censorious behavior something that's too expensive (in terms of time, money, and - above all - ***CALL CENTER METRICS***) for these companies to ignore.

One: it's not harassment, it's voicing a valid concern.
Two: No, there isn't. Emails can be deleted, physical mail can be thrown out, but phone calls can't be ignored.
Three: The more overtime these call center workers pull down, the more the companies they work for have to spend on them.

AIUI, at least part of the more recent NSFW/violence stuff (especially the part targeting companies like Valve and itch.io for distributing games with NSFW content) comes from a group calling itself Collective Shout.

Yeah! And it had a fair few callbacks to the first movie (including the return of the Bit)!

The call centers are just one front of the battle (and, arguably, the easiest one for many to engage with).
It's all about affecting the metrics, and what do executives focus on when it comes to call centers?

(Side note: Each story in SOAOS is comprised of various chapters from the first arc of "Behold, Humanity!"; "SHOT OUT!" itself, for example, follows the crew of a hovertank, from their first skirmishes in the field to their greatest victory against a massively superior enemy force.)

Here's a couple:
"Fork-Tailed Devil: The P-38", by Martin Caidin. An interesting look at the history of one of the more unusual fighter planes of World War II.
"'SHOT OUT!' And Other Stories", by Ralts Bloodthorne. A collection of stories from his web serial "Behold, Humanity!"
