Today is the book birthday for To The Top of the World! A book I illustrated about the life of Barbara Hillary, the first Black woman to reach the north AND south poles (all in her 60s and 70s!) She's my hero. Grab it wherever books are sold!

When pubs allow me to self-direct, I've found I prefer close-ups more than most, particularly with hands. To me, they're unsung storytelling heroes. Zooming in shows intimacy—there's a reverence in hands I wish I could indulge in more. I'll have to do it with my own books!
