Had "the talk" (more like 3 emails) with my boss. From November 1st, to at least the first quarter of 2026 I want nothing to do with Academia.
I'll probably ask for an internship in a pizzeria, but I'm available to help in gamedev in case someone has a low effort project.

Sore throat. Covid? No, a burnt French fry decided to go down horizontally, scratching the esophagus.
Judging from the doctor in the room completely focused on what's on the tv and a quick Wikipedia search, I don't have a decent excuse to avoid being dragged in another paper at 20 days from the end.

It's just like any other fifth-generation programming language. There is nothing intrinsically unique to Prolog that you cannot do in another language, and if you are not exactly working on a deduction problem, the mental gymnastics required is excessive. Even with clpfd extensions it is convoluted.

(Of course these things are also useful for geocaching/treasure hunts or live isos for digital forensics, ethical hacking, antivirus. In the latter case something like Ventoy and a collection of isos on a 32Gb drive may be good to have on you at all times.)

You can load a live iso on a 15mm UDP chip like these, and change the boot priority of his laptop in 30 seconds.

You can buy them cheaply online, or take apart some cheap USB drives (which are often just an UDP chip and a plastic cover). Hard to detect and hard to remove without a plastic enclosure

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to eat a lot of cheese today.
Both in real life, and in Brave Fencer Musashi (PSX, 1998).

Somehow, in spite of all the efforts put into them, I haven't managed to finish them yet (the cheese in my fridge and the last chapter of the videogame).

(Sometimes it is really hard to reply, but then I read some of your posts and realize that, in spite of being human and having a bad day or two like the rest of us, you always manage to motivate others, and I find the strength to send at least a thumbs up on his progress.)

Well, actually there is this friend who's trying to lose weight (health concerns). To stay motivated he sends me a log of his weight along with pictures of his meals, and demands the same from me to compare. If I continue sitting all day on a chair, it won't be long till he needs someone else 🤣

simplified domains with limited ethical implications are just as important to explore new techniques and limitations.
FYI: The most recent paper I could find on MT is from last year and presents a rather simple methodology, which G. Translate had patched, probably before the paper was accepted. 2/2

I was searching papers on black box adversarial attacks on machine translation models, and after a quick search it turns out there is limited interest left nowadays, as everyone has moved on the more ethically pressing domain of autonomous driving.
This is good from a priority perspective, but.. 1/2

This theory is corroborated by the fact that inside a cubicle, people are usually safe from tigers, lions, and other predators, thus having a higher chance in terms of natural selection.

The theory however falls apart, when we consider the threat posed by giant pandas in Turkey.
