Appreciate there are areas that are complicated but am disappointed not to have seen more decisive action so far. Peppercorn ground rent for example would make a big statement. Harry Scoffin has been a real voice on the issue for us leaseholders, be great for govt to engage with him

"The government recognise the considerable financial strain that rising services charges are placing on leaseholders and tenants of housing associations."

[But has no real plan to act on it].
A question on #HousingAssociations #ServiceCharges tabled by Jim Shannon on 11-12-2024 has been answered by Matthew Pennycook. https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2024-12-11/19292

People outside of LA truly don’t understand how apocalyptic this is. It’s worse than it’s ever been. Entire residential neighborhoods are burning to the ground.

It’s crazy to me that the long leasehold issue has been allowed to persist for so long. Who actually wants to keep the existing situation?

About time! And rent capping ought to come with it.
You can be a landlord. It can even pay off your mortgage. But you should not be able to profiteer from residential renting. This is a good start, though.
And overhauling disgusting leasehold needs moving along WAY quicker. Like, now.
