I especially liked the symbolism of marigolds: Their odor was part of what brought the dead back for Days of the Dead with each flower’s 365 petals representing a day in the year of a good life. To the Spanish, the gold color represented gold from Mary’s dowry and why we call the flower, marigolds.

Oh nein. ☹️ Das ist, wenn ich mich über unser Wetter freue. Kaum ein Winter wirklich, außer der etwa 2 Wochenspanne von unter gefrorenen Eisereignissen, die typischerweise im Februar schlecht sind, weil wir einfach nicht richtig darauf vorbereitet sind.

The good thing about this very gradual move to cooler temps (eventually), is I don’t feel so pressured to start winterizing everything in a time crunch. Almost always a bright side - just have to look really hard sometimes!

Current State 📘 🌤️ … it hardly feels like October. No change in sight either. 🫤
Sitting on chaise in back yard reading The Tiger, written by John Vaillant. On page 62/306. This is intriguing so far and learning A LOT, which is awesome. Nice break after mowing the backyard, cutting back the Turk’s Cap, quick run to the fabric store to make 1st of 2 quilt blocks tomorrow due for Friday’s class, and watching the Cowboys win! Currently (4:50pm) 87° … it’s not too bad actually when the sun is behind the clouds. Skeeters starting to come out though, and that’s when it’s back inside for me! 🦟
