Yes. The pre-teens in the study weren’t *quite* alone — was someone on hand to make sure no one died or badly hurt themselves, but I think there were still one or two broken bones. Easy to find the study/article if you wanna read more about it.

I am personally done with “masculine leadership”. See the study about the boys and girls left alone for a week in a house - basically unsupervised. The girls built a society and divided labor to make food and clean things. The boys destroyed their environment.

The recipe. From my English (Bermudian) grandmother. Steam 3 hours, in 15 minute intervals. Must use a pudding tin. It was involved… but OMG SO GOOD with French Hard Sauce melted on top. Drooling. It’s been in my fridge since August just waiting for Christmas.

It’s a very involved and precise method of steaming the batter in 15 minute intervals. My mom has been doing it for 50+ years. I did it with her this summer. We made two, which will last two Christmases. It keeps in a cold cellar (or fridge). Lots of rum. Wrapped in cheesecloth, soaked in more rum.
