@lettieblue.bsky.social and I have a new book available on Amazon. This is the easy version of our Rebalance mandala book. As well as being a great way to support your friendly neighborhood Bluesky artists it’s also a fantastic way to relax and work through color ideas. amzn.to/4alH4EP

Making a load of mess this morning, just getting a feel for how I want to work with Inktense blocks and working on junky paper. Getting a few excellent moments amongst the throwaways though. I really like everything about this one. 🥰
A loose abstract painting using Derwent Inktense blocks. Working on getting a feel for how to balance intensity and open space while setting up a very portable way of working. This was done with making a two simple marks of color and then activating and shaping them later with a water brush.

I expect they will bill her for the cost of the autopsy as well regardless of the results

Whew! March has been pretty busy. Our senior dog’s illness got considerably worse, and he eventually had to be put to sleep. 😢 New puppy is sweet and energetic. 😆 We’ve worked a lot on being respectful about art supplies so I’m actually getting work done. Seriously need a long nap though. 😴😴😴😴
An intuitive abstract drawing - ink over a super loose color layer. Just working on keeping the drawing hand moving and seeing whatever pops out no matter how tired I happen to be. A cuter than cute Rottweiler puppy enjoying a chew toy while her best stuffed animal friend Mr. Hedgehog keeps her company.

This is an older photo, but this is our resident vulture family catching some rays.

She’s also been very respectful of art supplies after a few initial discussions 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sweet old boy gave it a valiant try, but didn’t make it. It was really tough on all of us. New little puppy did not know him very long, but he is doing her best to fill his paw prints. ❤️
A cute Rottweiler puppy brings her giraffe toy over to try to negotiate a trade with me. She would really like to play with my notebook and pencil.

So little art, so much puppy time. Also caring for my loyal old dog who is still so weak and ill. stuff’s pretty crazy, but the weather is nice and the company is good. ❤️
A little Rottweiler puppy takes a break from her busy morning to do some artwork. Her main contribution is getting the required amount of dog hair on the picture and she’s doing very well at that.

It could. A lot of my current approach has grown out of trying to make things so easily grab and go that two or three minutes of art can be productive and enjoyable. I end up cranking out more and more stuff constantly throughout the day with it feeling more in harmony with even the busiest days. 🥰

brush so I don’t even need to deal with rinse water - just a blotting rag. Repeatedly photographing, printing, and painting over lets me get analog layers without having to resort to acrylics.
angiegracecoloring.bsky.social
The main reason I print things now is because I like limiting how much digital work I do. Analog is more soothing to me - but only if I have a way to do it that doesn’t involve a ton of cleanup. 🤣 Most of my watercolor stuff recently has been done using Daniel Smith and watercolor sticks and a water

I find that if I have a good productive easy to access process that I really enjoy - output tends to take care of itself. Each day I create dozens of new starting points more than I would ever be able to use up. 🤣
angiegracecoloring.bsky.social
I also take pictures of any finished motifs or little paintings or whatever and put them in another iPhone album that I run as a screensaver all day long on my TV. Every once in a while, something old will catch my interest in spark a new start of some sort.

more ink and paint on top throughout the day. The big thing for me is not having to care at all about how it looks because I can trust there will always be some tiny little piece in there that will look interesting in a photo. At least interesting enough to draw or paint over. 🤣

I try to always take pictures close-up of sections of work, even if those sections have no meaning at all. I stick them in an iPhone photo album called paper fodder and eventually print out a page something like this. Each section of this fits nicely on my mini clipboard, and I just dabble with
A printable page with close-up photos of sections of previous art pieces. I color and paint over these throughout the day to see what direction they might take me in.

this, but first I’ll let it dry and harvest sections with close-up photography. Some sections will be future collage papers. Along the way I will find things I haven’t seen before and develop them as shapes and relationships to use in mandalas. I love viewing previous day’s art in new ways. 🥰🥰🥰
angiegracecoloring.bsky.social
I absolutely love the process of collage. And I love not caring about the outcome. The whole purpose of this for me is to create intuitive connections and then start prowling around up close with my camera to find tasty tidbits to print and draw/paint over. I will probably do a few more layers over
A collage made from pieces of printouts of my old artwork with a bit of torn up art and sketchbook pages thrown in. This is 11 x 14 format with no intention of creating a finished piece - just using it as a process to find lovely small sections to explore. A close-up view of a small section of the collage that has shapes and lines and forms that inspire me to develop them further with painting and drawing.

exploration work so much more efficiently and with far less constraints than if I was trying to make anything that actually looks nice. And that’s creating so much good stuff to easily develop into commercial work. Who knew that less time would end up being so productive? New book is coming soon. 🥰🥰

really fun and freeing way to work. And it lets me get multiple layers of color even when using media that doesn’t lend itself to doing that in a single piece. Every little painting spawns about eight close-up pictures which all become new potential starts for more exploration. This is letting me do

More progress with my mini set up and short session art time as I spend my days playing doggy nurse. I’m doing way more small format “don’t care” kind of work and redefining success as creating anything that is capable of being photographed close up, printed, and drawn over again. It’s been a
An abstract drawing with multiple layers of line work and color. This was done by making a little art, taking a close-up picture of part of it, printing it out, painting and drawing over it and then repeating the process. It’s like peeking inside of a fractal and watching as new things appear.

Absolutely love the line work ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Tomorrow we have a follow up vet visit after the splenectomy and Spiffy will be getting his stitches out and a bloodwork check up. I think recovery is headed in the right direction but it’s fairly slow going.

As always, working on finding out what I like. The shape on the lower right is kind of a landmark moment where I was able to leave some wide open spaces, but not have them feel boring. That’s a really good feeling balance of graphite and watercolor to me. Got the dog hair included, of course. 🥰
Graphite and watercolor on waterproof TerraSlate paper. Working small - this was all done on a quarter of an A4 sheet. Trying to get a feel for what types of balance between open space in detail feels the most comfortable when using these tools.
angiegracecoloring.bsky.social
Excellent! I hope you have a lot of fun with it. ❤️

I’m so glad you enjoye them ❤️❤️❤️
