“O Root of Jesse” seems, perhaps, out of place among the others. Other “O Antiphons” appear to emphasize key attributes of who God is. “Radix Jesse” feels more like a minor detail about Jesus’ human lineage, but it’s important in the grand prophetic scheme:

Why is Wisdom—or in Latin, Sapientia—the first of the seven “O Antiphons?” Because this is Wisdom from on high: the divine, personified Wisdom, who was present at the creation of the world.

The Psalms are a collection of poetry that spans the range of emotion. This includes negative emotions, like shame. Where the feeling of shame tries to compel us to hide, the psalms show that we cannot reveal so much of ourselves to God that he turns away from us.
