I doubt that mass market paperbacks were ever good choices for libraries. They fall apart too fast!

Technically it never went away, it just stopped being a major concern cuz antibiotics prevent serious complications and stop transmission.

(It's the same cluster of bacteria that causes strep throat, so treating and quarantining strep throat is also important.)

He's Belgian, really hates murders, and wears a lot of clothing so as to not be cold and/or wet. Everything else he lies about.

Yeah, with only 24 hours there are too many other crime opportunities to waste on mugging someone. Unless you're doing an opportunistic snatch and grab while between more important crime runs.

Yeah, being alone, exhausted and unarmed against a group of alert and armed people with a grudge against you can only end one way.

Women are more likely to be suicidal and to attempt suicide, they are just considerably less likely to use guns than men are.

Yeah, but psychologists are supposed to develop insight into why they are fucked up, not rant about feminine chaos energy and lobsters.

We would be better off if celebrities all had a pseudonymous shitposting account with like 100 followers they could just be normal on.

The original potato tuber was as poisonous as the rest of the plant and the toxins don't break down with cooking, so the earliest inhabitants of the Andes ate their potatoes with a side of clay in order to adsorb the toxins. Yummy!

I saw the toxic positivity filter hide the post "meow" once so god only knows.

Yeah, like, we should just call people who are being assholes out for being assholes as a norm. We need to be telling people off for having badly trained pets (incessant barking, off-leash, etc) well before it gets up to "faking service animal status" severity level, for example.

Or Terry Prachett. Anyone who can do dry humor with lots of tangents. But it's very much not a line that can be *serious*. It's inherently a silly thing to say.

Bluesky millenials: Too young to drink out of the heavy metal hose, too old to eat Tide Pods. Just in time to poison ourselves with Nora's fancy glass! 🫠

(Please do not poison yourself with Nora's fancy glass.)

Physical media is better than nothing, but it doesn't help that media formats keep being depreciated. My current computer doesn't even have a CD player, and that used to be my main media device.

(Ironically Steam is very good for keeping computer games from being lost to operating system churn...)

It's coming, very slowly. Right now the big limitation is the cost. Can't scale up production to "mainstream" levels until the cost gets close to farmed meat.
U.S. approves chicken made from cultivated cells, the nation’s first ‘lab-grown’ meat
The Agriculture Department gave the green light to Upside Foods and Good Meat, which had been racing to be the first in the U.S. to sell meat that doesn’t come from slaughtered animals.
