Yes but we will have the same arguments when someone designs a bus stop with footway level cycleway and opponents shout ‘that’s not to standard, we want detectable kerbs, rip it out’ and the designer can claim it complies with the statutory guidance.

My point is that this statutory guidance is still quite unclear therefore open to interpretation. Even the ramps on the render further on in the document are in a different position.

June 2025. Possibly there has been more work since then. The last street view was 2023 with no bollards or tactiles. I think they might be describing the narrower crossing as a build out rather than actual build outs into the carriageway.

Of course a bollard has been hit almost immediately after installation so still not that safe then. Really needs a build out, entry kerbs and possibly bell bollards

When your council voted to continue subsidising free parking in Porobello last week and therefore encouraging car dependent lifestyles is that the fault of the Scottish Government too or will you accept some responsibility for the issue?

I would hope so. Stockbridge is a traffic sewer and pedestrian nightmare. It would benefit significantly from traffic restrictions and wider footways with or without trams.

Im aware it’s complex and I’m not saying it’s cheaper than roseburn but it would clearly serve more passengers and closer to RIE too. I’m also not saying it would be the best route but it should IMO have been included in the feasibility study rather than the Dean Bridge route.

The north bridge route will have similar utilities and disruption as Leith Walk has seen. Seem to me it’s a political decision ‘not to upset the new towners’

So how can you say it’s not viable? To me it looks cheaper than orchard brae (avoids Dean bridge) and would likely serve more passengers than both. Speed is a political decision not to restrict traffic.

Council saying one of the goals is “support new developments” so that’s induced demand from the get go. They’ll need another relief road for the relief road soon enough. Also good to see it’s one of those ‘safe and environmental friendly’ roads. 🤦🏼

Abysmal. CEC giving cyclists false security of a secure bike lane when really it’s as good as a painted lane. As ever, cost cutting has resulted in a false economy with reduced quality and a long term maintenance headache.
