Here's an #untranslated series of #MSX2 #sugoroku style RPGs - the Rune Master series started with titular original (1989), and plays pretty smooth - there's even plenty of English text! Reminds me a bit of Sugoro Quest for the Famicom. Looking to try more MSX games in the future. #retrogaming.

Recently gotten into playing some obscure CD #jRPGs from the nineties, especially those that aren't English translated. Anearth Fantasy Stories (1995) pushed the #PCEngine CD to the limit. It looks like a beautiful SNES game. Vibrant colors, artwork, and solid voice acting. #retrogaming

Riven (1997) was masterful in its environmental storytelling. The original #Myst has that early CG look, but #Riven looks quite photorealistic, even today. It's a testament to the amazing artists, but also a budget built upon the back of one of the biggest-selling games ever. #retrogaming #pcgaming

Climbing into this contraption in Riven: The Sequel to Myst (1997) for the first time was breathtaking. I tore this game apart when I was a kid. I wasn't very good at it, but it never felt unfair. Like the best games, it rewards persistence and patience. #pcgaming #retrogaming #myst #riven

One of my favorite all time RPGs is #PopoloCrois, and now that the entire #PS1 trilogy is fan translated, you can play all three in a row as intended. Such attention to detail, world building, with a unique art style. The isometric landscape provides depth other games of the era lack. #retrogaming

Chase Bombers (1994) was a late bloomer to the #superscaler #arcade wars. Power Drift came out in '88, while Super Mario Kart hit consoles in '92, but Chase Bombers took the experience of both back to arcades in one sprite-scaling, psychedelic rainbow package—it's a hidden gem and rare to boot.
