1. Click Start and open the Group policy editor Click Start and search "gpedit" then open the Group policy editor when it appears. 2. Go to User configuration > Administrative templates > Windows components > Windows Copilot In the left hand panel, navigate to User configuration > Administrative templates > Windows components > Windows Copilot. 3. Double-click Turn off Windows Copilot Double click the Turn off windows Copilot policy on the right-hand panel. 4. Click Enabled > Apply > OK Click Enabled and click Apply then click OK. It seems counter intuitive to be clicking Enabled here, but we are enabling a policy to disable Copilot.

I'm starting to sound like I work for EA so let me say that The Sims is my favorite game that I can't in good conscience recommend that anyone buy, because it's so buggy that it's functionally unplayable without mods.

BUT....
The Sims in my Steam window. I've got over 3800 hours playtime.

The game doesn't insult us by treating these as exclusively "adult" options. Ash Harjo is a trans teen. Wren Grove is a gay child. They aren't old enough to "woohoo" yet, but they are what they are.

As a life simulation game, a major selling point of the Sims is the versatility of its character creator. And this flexibility has extended even to include designating pronouns as well as mixing up gendered traits, sexual orientations, and romantic styles. It's immensely robust.
"Change Pronouns" dropdown menu with option for Custom Pronouns. "Gender" menu with options for physical frame, clothing preference, and ability to become pregnant, produce milk, and pee standing up. "Sexual Orientation" menu with options for romantic and "WooHoo" (read: sexual) attraction. "Romantic Boundaries" menu with options for whether jealousy is triggered by different kinds of behaviors by partners.

Before l'd pulled out my notebook, Platner and I talked about our favorite science fiction franchises. Platner told me that Star Trek's optimism had inspired his earliest interest in policy. "This brings us back to Star Trek," he says to wrap up his philosophy on culture war issues. "You have to solve scarcity. I believe that if you solve scarcity issues, no one gives a fuck about these other things."

Platner is blunt, even proud, about how much he's benefitted from government programs. He wants everyone to benefit from them. He went to George Washington University on the Gl Bill, he can afford a mortgage on his $250,000 home and to do a job he loves because of those disability checks. His healthcare is free, after a fashion-he paid for it with four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan during the grimiest slog of the War on Terror (fighting in Fallujah and Ramadi, among other places. "I came back struggling with the kinds of things you struggle with when you've been blown up a few times," he says. He has two herniated disks and was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress syndrome. "But watching your friends die as the bar to meet for decent healthcare is disgusting."

Aboard his boat, I break the ice by asking Platner to explain exactly how oyster farming works. His answer begins 5,000 years ago, with members of the Passamaquoddy tribe collecting oysters in the shallows as a major part of their diet: "It's a source of protein that doesn't run away when you try to catch it." Easy to transport in its own protective case and able to survive out of the water for days, Roman armies carried them in rucksacks on campaigns. In the 1800s, New Yorkers ate about one million oysters a day, often picking them up for a convenient snack from carts on street corners, like hot dogs or a breakfast sandwich. They became a status symbol as their numbers dwindled. Today, the east coast has five percent of the oyster population it did at the turn of the twentieth century. The modern northeastern oyster trade exists because Rutgers University scientists saved the industry, breeding a disease-resistant strain of Crassostrea virginica in 1960. Letting Platner's lesson wash over me, it's clear that the oyster is praxis as much as a menu item. From indigenous subsistence to working-class staple, a species decimated by extractive capitalism and the predilections of the elite, brought back to life by a public institution as a sustainable resource. It's a case study in how labor, science, and regulation can still stitch together a community and economy.

As a Vermont State Senator, you are one of DA's prominent elected officials. While the left has uniformly supported Palestine's struggle for self-determination, it has not extended the same solidarity to Ukraine's struggle. Why? I think the answer to this is complicated and the result of a flawed way of approaching the question of Ukraine and its struggle for self-determination. Some on the left believe that anything the United States is involved in must be bad and therefore because the U.S. has supported Ukraine they should oppose such support. This is a form of American exceptionalism in reverse — the idea that everything the U.S. supports must be reactionary. This leads some on the left to oppose not just the U.S. but also Ukraine's struggle for self- determination and, in some cases, even to support Russian imperialism. Others simply know little about the history of Ukraine's resistance, including left-wing resistance to Russian imperialism. So, there is not the same kind of knee-jerk sympathy with Ukraine as there rightly is with Palestine. There are also those who oppose all funding of any war. They hold the naive belief that if Ukraine just stops fighting it will bring about peace. That's obviously not the case. If Ukrainians didn't resist, Russia would simply conquer the country and impose dictatorial colonial rule. The truth is that if Russia stops fighting, there will be peace, but if Ukraine stops, there will be no Ukraine. Finally, there is a subset of the left that mistakenly thinks that Russia is not an imperialist power but a progressive force standing up to the U.S. In reality, Putin heads a neoliberal, capitalist dictatorship. So, people on the left have various justifications for not supporting Ukraine's struggle against occupation, genocide, and imperialism, but they are all wrong.
