backwards arrow clearly visible there! And I'd never heard of the Zorn pallet - fascinating. I'm really looking forward to chatting with Matthew on Monday about his book.

Is this image the draft or the final version? I'm not sure what I'm looking for, sorry. (BTW I met your grandfather a couple of times in San Diego and was always very impressed - really, a great mind, and a good man)

Yep that was/is my feeling too. Watson knew exactly what he was doing. I’m a little surprised the Crick Institute people didn’t pick it up.

4/ The error is even clearer in the wall text: "The blackboard bears the words 'DNA->RNA->protein". Innocent mistake? Well, look who commissioned the portrait. A certain James Watson 🙄

3/ Strikingly, the portrait of Crick commissioned for no lesser place than the Crick Institute continues to push "Watson's Dogma" (as Crick suggested it be known) - as discovered by Crick scientist Katie Bentley. Look at the top, there's no backward arrow from RNA to DNA.

2/ Amusing Crick-snippet. Cobb's book makes clear that Crick consistently rejected DNA->RNA->protein 'central dogma' continually pushed by Watson, and let Watson know about it. For Crick, back-translation from RNA->DNA was entirely possible, and indeed happens. Here's a passage from Cobb's book:

6/ A final thanks to all my brilliant lab members and colleagues at The Sussex Centre for Consciousness Science, Sussex Uni, CIFAR, and beyond, without whom I would have no idea about anything. Especial thanks to my students and postdocs for creating such a stimulating atmosphere to work in.
