Due to redundancies I am now looking for work!
I have 5 years of experience as a 3d artist. I am primarily looking for full time positions in studio or remote but open to other options.
Any reposts are appreciated! 🙏

This goes out to the new studios out there or those thinking of starting them. READ THE LEGALS AND UNDERSTAND THEM BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING.

This guide should help

And with the nature of the internet "Not all AI" is going to land like "not all men."

But it's critical. What AI engineers were/are working towards could/still can do amazing things (a researcher friend is using it for cancer research) but big tech decided to weaponize it against all creatives.
animationmerc.bsky.social
The marketing buzzword of "AI" really ruined critical conversation about it. Not all AI is GenAI and not all GenAI is the output of the plagiarism machine (it was always going to learn English. It shouldn't know how to write like Stephen King.)

I think the "magic wand tool" comparison is apt.

The new, unchangeable font in #Android16 makes me wonder if it's even enshittification or if we're just being trolled now by big tech.

A lot of the games industry's special snowflake uniqueness manifests in the hard times too but so many industries are suffering. Freelance artists, graphic designers, translators, copywriters, ad agencies etc have been hit with a wrecking ball.

Doesn't make it not suck but perspective is important.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

"But Ryan, Im broke." I know, it's going around. But don't let cheap Amazon crap calibrate your price expectations. This is a dirty trick of capitalism!

If McDonald's sold "a handful of gravel" for 50 cents that probably wouldn't become your diet. Cheap crap often doesn't meet the criteria.

Spend your money where you spend your time. My previous reply (act young) is true but your body does age.

You will feel it less if you buy quality where it counts: shoes, bed, pillow, office chair, desk, ergonomics etc.

Save up and splurge for things that matter.

"Casual parkour" sounds like a good time. We all age so the longer it takes, the luckier we are.

I'm closer to 50 than 40 but acting 30 stops me from feeling 70.
animationmerc.bsky.social
I did throw out my back with a really big sneeze in my mid 30s. Our bodies do age and I'll never take up parkour but our minds and self-image absolutely affect it.

Gotta stay active, walk briskly with with purpose and don't make noises when you stand up because that shit doesn't go away.

I'm around and on your time zone (in Berlin.)

This sucks man! LMK if you want to talk about.

Was gonna say, sounds very expensive.

Get him on the Shirley Temples (sprite + grenadine in a fancy glass.) That's probably where my alcoholism started.

Here's one backed by science: your biological age is influenced strongly by how old you feel! People assume it's only the opposite.

So STFU about "being old now" and thinking that way. You are literally making yourself older thinking this.

Stay hungry. Stay playful and stay curious.

Drink water.

He was also the Creative Director on Battlefield 1 (w a long career at DICE.) Awesome guy, insanely talented. We went in to a pitch meeting thinking "wtf battlefield world war 1?" and an hour later Stefan had us going "battlefield WW1 is going to fucking amazing."

Have you heard any Hasselhoff yet?

I'm going to start a petition to rename Templehof to Hasselhoff but need to secure legal status first.

"I've never seen a film so successfully advertise Modelo."

100% agree.

This was SO VERY GOOD and it seems like very people besides age 40+ animators know about it.
