Film, music, literature, real journalism - some of my favorite things. Author and communicator. Let's do our best to love one another.
@yellowveilpictures.bsky.social and @shudder.com gifted me my most exhilarating movie experience of the year. In a Tromaville-adjacent reality exists the absurdist, beautifully disgusting world of "Rats!" Thank you to everyone involved in this wild masterpiece. Still trying to fix my busted gut. 😂

"Wasteland" by Jim Ghedi has emerged as a favorite album of the year so far. Unlike anything I've heard - a mixture of folk, rock and Jim's amazing voice, as well as a timeless communion with nature. Very English but also very universal. It stirs the ancient embers within me

If I could only have 1 album, it would be this. Came out 35 years ago today. I was 11. The closest I've experienced to a religious revelation. Violator was my initiation into the world. Depeche Mode a hierophant. Hard to put into words how important their music has been to me. Much ❤️ to fellow fans.

I'm reading "The Trickster and the Paranormal" by George P. Hansen, and in the early pages it is already providing interesting insights about today even though it was written more than 20 years ago. As someone who has long nursed a fascination with the paranormal, it seems to be crossing over ...

Watched Adult Swim's Yule Log 2: Branching Out for the second time. It was even more brilliant and hilarious than the first time. Casper Kelly and crew do an ingenious mashup of Hallmark and horror that feels tailored to my holiday sweet tooth. Really hoping they continue this unique franchise!

Once I started listening to the Brothers Reid read the audiobook version of this insightful, funny and, at times, heartbreaking look at their lives and career, I couldn't stop. I came out loving them and the Jesus and Mary Chain even more. What a treasure!

Saw The Order, a movie that somehow flew completely under the radar for me, and was shocked by the incredible performances by all - especially Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Jurnee Smollett and Tye Sheridan. Such visceral, high octane sequences about a chapter of white supremacist terrorism. Amazing.

I hope Will Cullen Hart has a beautiful trip to the mountains. Olivia Tremor Control and the Elephant 6 Collective have had such an impact on me. Music is sacred - and they have provided many moments of solace and wonder. "I have been floated ..."

“They believed in freedom more as an identity than as a way of life. A costume.” - Undiscovered Country, Volume 4
This brilliant series created by @charlessoule.bsky.social and @ssnyder1835.bsky.social really captures something about the psychology and psychoses of America. Can't wait for Volume 5!

Excited for the warm, fuzzy and loveably weird family that is @museumofhomevideo.bsky.social. Bret, Jenny and Ivor have created something very special for those of us into the odd and nostalgic. Check out the show right now!

The new Cursive album "Devourer" is a barn-burning assessment of our times. Catchy, rollicking, bleak, profane. Tim Kasher and company are at the height of their power. All the stars. RIYL: Cello with your rock.
"It’s happening before our eyes
The avalanche of our demise ..." Check it out!
