For more than a decade, conservation groups have ben working on a 5-acre property in the Pinelands next to the Black Run Preserve. Last week, local officials took major steps that advocates hope will allow for the purchase and protection of the area.

The Fowlers Toad is a camouflaged, nighttime forager found in woodlands, dunes, and even backyards across NJ.
Their populations have declined due to habitat loss, pesticides, and other human impacts, but the species has made a significant comeback over the last few years.

This month, the EPA approved two new pesticides that meet the internationally recognized definition as PFAS or "forever chemicals," and has announced plans for four additional approvals. They will be used on vegetables such as romaine lettuce, broccoli and potatoes.

New Jersey is likely to see between 2.2 and 3.8 feet of sea-level rise by 2100 if the current level of global carbon emissions continue, but seas could rise by as much as 4.5 feet if ice-sheet melt accelerates, the New Jersey Climate Change Resource Center at Rutgers University said on Tuesday.
