@ward3democrats.bsky.social have passed a resolution calling for strong coordination between all of DC's Home Rule advocates and for increased funding for the offices of DC's U.S. Senators and Representative. I agree. Increased funding and coordination would improve our advocacy on Capitol Hill

3/3 Because we are not a state and have no voting representation in Congress, Republicans are trying to change our laws to their image. DON'T let them. They will not stop here. Call your Senators at 202-224-3121 and tell them to oppose any and all bills or budget riders that threaten Washington, DC.

1/3 On Tuesday, the US Senate Committee on the Judiciary held a hearing on ~cHaoS AnD tRAGedY~ in blue cities, acusing the "Far-Left" of being soft on crime. The MAGA administration is using Washington, DC as testing ground for its #AuthoritarianAgenda with the support of Senate Republicans.

Another busy day meeting with Senate offices and asking Dems to hold the line against the DC Trump takeover bills. One staffer told us our advocacy on these bills has been miles better than our advocacy on the Criminal Code Reform. I will continue to advocate aggressively for DC

Republicans have concluded attacking blue cities is good politics after some House Dems supported their attacks on DC. They have now scheduled a hearing to discuss how to attack cities across the country. Senate Dems can stop these attacks by blocking the DC Trump takeover bills

This vote demonstrates exactly why we need DC statehood. Until we get statehood, we will always be at risk of having our local laws rewritten by Republicans (and a few Democrats) in Congress who are more focused on micromanaging DC than nationwide issues like the cost of living

Tomorrow, the House will vote on bills requiring police to conduct high-speed car chases in most circumstances and giving Trump total control over who DC's local judges are. Will @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social and @whipkclark.bsky.social whip those votes? Or will they abandon DC again?

This vote will not even help swing-district Dems get re-elected. It shows a party that still has not internalized the lesson that to win elections they need to focus intensely on issues that affect voters directly, like cost of living, and ignore side issues like local DC laws

Democrats: Giving D.C. to Trump won't get you re-elected

The House will consider bills that would reshape D.C. to the president's liking. Supporting these wildly undemocratic bills will not make Democrats seem moderate.
