Caver, Educator, Artist, Creator, Shooter, Builder, Free Thinker, Outdoors Enthusiast, Conservationist, Steward. How do you sum up the totality of a person in just a few lines? I don't fit in most boxes, so if you think you know me, you probably don't.
Infectious disease and epidemiology has been an area of study all of my life in public health and I did a fair amount of undergraduate coursework in it. Like many things I learned, a large part of combatting it is not medical, it's social. This is an excellent film: www.facebook.com/share/v/1BCf...

Due process means that the law of the land says that the government cannot arbitrarily deprive someone of life, liberty, or property, without following its own laws. Habeas Corpus is a check against the administration arbitrarily making someone just disappear by requiring a court to review charges.

It makes it all the more dangerous for law enforcement when someone being arrested does not feel that they will have an opportunity to have their day in court. If you know you are innocent but fear you will be rendered to a foreign torture camp, why should you go peacefully?

Here I go, indoctrinating my students again presenting them with information. I'm discussing special needs patient populations this week and how to deal with patients with autism. Debunking the the tired idiocy trotted out with vaccines causing autism. publichealth.jhu.edu/2025/the-evi...

Those who are worked up about people wanting to be called something other than what they were named at birth need to understand is that they have been manipulated into being outraged by this. Foreign actors who wish us harm are doing this and treat each other with disrespect plays into their hands.

I've been a supporter of the right to keep and bear arms all of my life. The left hurt itself by making gun control one of its rallying points by alienating many people who were otherwise politically moderate, driving them to the right. blog.socialistra.org/dont-panic/
Don't Panic: A guide to becoming an armed leftist in the United States ahead of the 2024 elections.
This article is not designed to be an exhaustive plan of action but rather a primer for the leftist or liberal that might think 2024 is the year to become a responsible gun owner.

The Soviet era of governmental intimidation of the populace to bow to the party above everything else keeping the working class poor, while the party chieftans enrich themselves is such a great model for us to follow. The Soviets didn't invent it, of course. It's been the model of every oppressor.

I have a better than average understanding of infectious disease and epidemiology as it has been something I've studied most of my life having come of age in medicine during the height of the AIDS epidemic. The AAP source here gets my stamp of approval. www.aap.org/en/news-room...

My retirement acct has lost 20% value in 4 mo. But my timber and eggs have gone up in value! Oligarchs will profit from market crashes directly taking the wealth we lose. That's the game and it is rigged against us. Meanwhile they continue to work to divide and distract us. Never lose sight of that.

I covered environmental emergencies in class last night. One of my favorite topics to talk about! It's just too bad that there's only an hour and a half or so to cover topics that we can spend days on. Tip of the hat to Dr. Watters who stopped by to say hi to the class and add his perspective!

"Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to keep stepping in it." I learned about McCarthy in my history class in high school in the 80s. Where I guess I was "indoctrinated" to think it was a bad thing.

The saying "absolute power corrupts absolutely" has never been more demonstrated than in the last few months. I'm in no way a Marxist as it too has its fatal flaws, but concentration of too much wealth and power in too few people, or in a single entity (corporation) is extremely dangerous.

I'm reviewing a hydration bladder and the directions say to "please avoid stabbing." Some days it can be difficult, I swear. Looking out for your own self-interests is one thing, but doing it to the destruction of the bridge you are standing on is just mind-boggling.

Anyone who really knows me knows that I am neither conservative nor liberal. Like most people my politics are more complicated than can be summed up by one party. Libertarian comes closest but even that falls short. This was a good listen.
