I maxed out my credit card, emptied my savings account, and took out a loan to move from Alabama to Bethesda, MD. I don’t even qualify for unemployment since I’ve only worked at NIH for a month. I will be financially and medically devastated.

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

The man who sexually abused me when I was a child is on his deathbed this evening. He is also my father. It’s a complex range of emotions tonight.
For as much as I have loathed my father, there are parts of me - who I am - that I get from him that I’m so grateful for. I will take the grateful road.
