My heart and my brain are conflicted, remembering we are all part of this earth and love is better than hate, but tired of fighting to have my own beliefs, from those who would force theirs on me, from a book they have never read, nor plan on reading, but someone told them to believe

I sit here today so conflicted, hurt and confused. I grew up reciting the pledge of allegiance, pledging to defend my country. I sit now not only aware of how many atrocities this country has been a part of in foreign lands, but distinctly aware of how it feels about its citizens.
