I gotta hand it to whatever advertising firm Informa hired to make these, there really is something almost poetic about GDC's advertising being "an AI-looking depiction of an industry staple being destroyed with no clear elaboration of what comes after." Masterclass in unintentionally nailing it.

Jason Blum's take on AI sucks. an AI takeover isn't inevitable, and treating it as such (while also referring to filmmaking as "content creation," smdh) helps AI companies promote the lie that their deeply unprofitable, destructive tech is more powerful and useful than it actually is.

I went full-time freelance in 2021 and literally in the past 3 years of my career, I've literally watched the industry try to make everyone a freelancer/gig worker. It's absolutely wild that I went this route to do something different, only to watch it be made the norm by the bean counters by force.

Which, when you work in a highly-skilled, highly-specialized job and discipline like narrative, the LAST thing you want your job search to come down to is LUCK.

Also worth noting: these were both contract gigs. In-house roles are almost entirely gone from what I've seen, including for Seniors.
