Local businesses in South East Cornwall are the driving force behind unlocking economic growth in our area.

I recently met with business leaders to discuss the incredible work that is going on, and to look at future areas for growth for our local businesses.

In the South West, teacher numbers are rising, including a 5% increase in special school teachers since I was elected last year.

We’re a third of the way to delivering our pledge of 6,500 new expert teachers.

Aspiring teachers will also receive up to £31,000 to train in specialist subjects.

Community pharmacies are at the heart of our local communities and provide us with so much essential support.

I met with representatives from Community Pharmacy England to discuss their concerns and learn more about how I can support them in South East Cornwall.

I know that there are problems with iVMS systems for our local fishermen and I took action to raise their voices and write to the Government about them.

I want to reassure those using Succourfish that I will continue to raise your concerns, so please share your experiences via email.

On the same day of the announcement, I wrote to the new CEO of South West Water, Keith Haslett.

I called for higher standards, better customer service, and stronger protection of our environment.

I have asked for a meeting with him as soon as possible.

I’ve been raising the importance of coastal businesses and water quality in Parliament because I know how much this matters to local people.

Water company fines are being reinvested to restore our waterways, with 51 local projects receiving funding - including right here in South East Cornwall.

It was great to see that so many MPs attended an important debate on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

I know we need all children and young people, including those with SEND, to receive the support they need to succeed in education and thrive in adult life.

Sharing some casework wins from July.

I am working to get what you need across many different issues like these.
annagelderdmp.bsky.social
No matter the venue I will always speak up on the issues that affect us in South East Cornwall.

I work with groups like Labour Coast and Country to address our specific needs on things like public transport and how best to grow our tourism, farming and fishing industries.

Farmers are at the heart of our communities in South East Cornwall. They’re always there, whether removing trees from roads after a storm or bringing the hay for Harvest Festival.

At conference, I met with people from across the farming community, like National Farmers’ Union representatives.

At the Labour Party Conference I've spoken about jobs, homes, health, national security, and the environment.

I met with EDF about Viverdon Down Solar Farm. I am glad that they have addressed some issues by reducing the size of the site and implementing a yearly community benefits fund.

Whilst the Tories have said that they would scrap climate targets, which would be an economic disaster and is a desperate attempt to remain relevant, I am determined to use the energy transition to boost economic growth in South East Cornwall.
annagelderdmp.bsky.social
Local people often ask me how we can push large businesses to go further and faster to work towards the renewable energy transition.

They want to see cheaper energy bills and home grown secure energy that isn’t making us reliant on tyrants like Putin for our energy.

Improving transport infrastructure in South East Cornwall is one of my top priorities because it is critical to our way of life.
Electric Vehicle Charging is one area where we need better provision.

I’m glad that Cornwall has been awarded £5.5 million to support charging point installation.

We all know that second homes, short-term holiday lets, and holiday homes are contributing to our housing crisis in South East Cornwall.

I was very glad to support Perran Moon in his important debate about Remote Coastal Communities.

Many people in South East Cornwall have contacted me about making polluters pay for the chemicals and waste that they dump into our land, water, and air.

This is an issue that needs addressing because some of these chemicals can stay in the environment and in our bodies forever.

Since you elected me last year, I’ve been working with the Post Office to ensure that our communities keep the services that they rely on close to home.

I recently raised your concerns in Parliament at an event to discuss the future of the Post Office.

Bodmin Parkway is a vital transport hub for local people in South East Cornwall, so making it accessible is essential.

I am glad that the first steps have been taken to deliver an accessible footbridge at the station. But I am urging the Department for Transport to prioritise this scheme.
annagelderdmp.bsky.social
I attended a regional transport debate and wanted to raise the issue of poor transport connectivity in South East Cornwall.

I want to see improvements in the Tamar Tolls and Cornwall Council using the money provided by the Government in the Bus Services Bill to fix our bus routes.

I am glad that the UK now formally recognises the State of Palestine. We made it clear in our election manifesto that we would do this, and we are delivering on our promise.

I know that it is vital that we seek a two-state solution, end the war in Gaza, and build a durable peace for everyone.

Constituents often come to me for help to solve various problems they have with accessing broadband. As a rural area, I know it’s often unreliable.

So, I brought this to Parliament and spoke directly with the Minister about how Project Gigabit is investing billions into upgrading infrastructure.

South East Cornwall has some incredible artistic talent, and I will always champion the fantastic creativity here.

I recently met with neighbouring MP, Luke Pollard, and industry leaders to discuss the future of the creative industry in the South West.

Illegal fishing harms our local fleets and consumers.

We need to know what we are eating, where it has come from and to feel reassured that it isn’t harming the people who’ve caught it or the marine environment.

I am glad that I got to speak with people involved to discuss solutions.

I was horrified to learn of the scale of pollution that leaks from our roads every time it rains.

This can’t be allowed to continue, and I asked what can be done to stop it and ensure those agencies tasked with keeping us safe from pollution are doing just that.

I recently met with local people in Trenewan to discuss the urgent challenge of keeping their community defibrillator operational after their electricity costs skyrocketed from £72 to over £1,000 per year.

Essential technology needed for public safety shouldn’t be under threat.
