obviously, I shouldn't tailor my rules-writing to people who seem intent on ignoring said rules

but I've also spent frustrating hours of my life flipping back and forth in TTRPG-rulebooks to find a necessary rule that is only mentioned once and easily missed

and I want to NOT do that

Continuing my work on the second draft, squinting at paragraphs and wondering in how many places I need to repeat a mechanic for people to remember to do it.

I don't want to nag, but also one of my playtest survey responses for draft 1 amounted to "I didn't follow the rules and had a bad time", so

if you're wondering why it takes me so long to finish a new TTRPG these days; I sat down to work on the second draft of my worldbuilding game, and was *instantly* hit by a wave of sleepiness

Clearly, the universe is against me.

knowing enough history to know that eventually, all hard turns towards fascism die - because people, on the whole, don't suck enough to keep it going.

also: everyone in town banding together to try and save the local library. Watching people care this loudly is good.

the ride from "everything is Bitcoin!!" to "NFTs are the future!!" to "let's all create a DAO" to "if you don't use AI now you'll be LEFT IN THE DUSTBIN OF HISTORY" in the past five or so years has been. An experience.

It's like watching people fall for the same bridge-selling scam over and over

Less time on here has been my step one. Step two has been to keep working on my projects and only post art and art-related updates. Step three is making more traditional art - paintings and sculptures.

I haven't figured out step four yet. I'll let you know if I do.

an unfortunate irony about this post - and even if you are the staunchest anti-ai critic out there, i think you'd agree - is that some of the most bigoted things are being said to respond to this. copy/pasting phrasing and terminology used by bigots but replacing "dna" with "bits" doesn't make it ok

if you're writing a sentence that sounds like eugenics but you go "oh that's fine to say because it's not a real person" (whatever that means) you may want to consider what made you okay with saying that
