I had a writing class instructor once say to just write and write until there is a narrative and I’m here to say that this approach does not work for me at all. I need a roadmap. Plot points. Scenes. Snappy dialogue. Even in creative nonfiction. Direction puts my inner critic to sleep.

I am writing a book. It is not easy. It is very very hard. I’m not sure the exact shape of it yet, and it feels like a lot of drivel on the page. But I love it already.

Because I can’t believe what is happening right now, and want to distract myself with good things,
here is another cup of coffee.
