as an autistic person, I don’t have the same difficulties as Kalu but I still nonetheless recognise this dangerous and familiar rhetoric. We need to move past these knee jerk reactions re “merit” and “lowering of standards”. yes this is a historic win but the work is also beautiful.

rare I see an obit n I’m moved to tears but Jane Goodall has always been in my life. Reading about her in my dad‘s old rippd and tatty Nat Geos growing up, seeing her on documentaries. I wanted to be like her when I grew up. she showed me there was more to life than being a wife. she was badass
