No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

No wonder the orange toddler is unhinged once again.

The Obamas are competent, classy, loving, Harvard and Princeton graduates, loved by many, not on the Epstein files, got the Nobel Peace Prize, and gave us a steady economy to boot.

Repost this if you agree they are AMAZING and an inspiration!

If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.

Democracy dies in oligarchy.

Today I saw ICE gas little white kids in the streets of Portland with chemical weapons. Imagine what they're doing to brown and black kids in the detention camps

ICE and CBP agents seem to enjoy gratuitously breaking glass—from car windows to store fronts to homes. It’s an expression of unchecked power and dominance: “We’re in charge. We break and shatter what we want.”

And nights of broken glass have been a harbinger of worse to come.

I grew up with Alex Pretti
The kind-hearted ICU nurse shot by ICE agents was my childhood best friend.

This this is what trump is doing
The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Hey. It's totally okay to be an alarmist right now.
There is no way to exaggerate the threat we are under at this moment.

We threw away such a lot for that not-so “special relationship”.
A more confident nation, with more honest politicians, would admit it and make amends with Europe. This is all such bullshit.

I'd bet my life that this year, ICE has caused more violence and suffering than all undocumented immigrants combined since the USA became a country.

Agreed! It’s a marathon not a sprint
I'm seeing a serious uptick in people being shamed for taking a step back from this dystopian reality for a recharge or distraction. Whether it's a film, watching sports, playing a game, or just walking the dogs, self-care is essential.
Denying yourself a break is a recipe for burnout.

Agreed
For fuck's sake, stop framing the brutal execution of Renee Nicole Good as "just another distraction" from the Epstein files.
We have the capacity to pay attention to multiple crises simultaneously, and we need to pay attention to ICE executing citizens.
Renee deserves our attention.

This is very bad
Posts may be a bit more sporadic from me today as my kids are home from school because my city is being brutalized by the federal government to the extent that it's unsafe for schools to be open

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

As Trump gets more desperate, politically weakened and more exposed by the Epstein files, he will like other malignant narcissists just double down and get more extreme.
How long will Republican politicians keep enabling these dangerous actions?
