I like Threads, but the drama is real, and the CEO is absolutely NOT an improvement over Bsky.

As always, today is a good day to support artists, writers, creators. If you have the means, maybe consider signing up for a Patreon. Buy a book, a game, a painting. Commission a new piece. Tell a creator what they mean to you. Signal boost their work.

Me: "Writing this Fall Writing Frenzy entry will be easy-peasy!"

My story: Already 34 words too long, and nowhere near the end.

If you're looking for a #historicalromance read for spooky season, here's a hint about what you'll find in "Stranger at the Crossroads," my entry in Dragonblade's upcoming Halloween anthology.

Graphic has a black background, mottled with light gray. In the center is a book cover for an anthology titled “Ghosts, Graveyards, and Grey Ladies: A Historical Romance Anthology,” published by Dragonblade. White arrows lead away from the cover, pointing to tropes. Tropes are (clockwise starting from top left): “marriage of convenience,” “haunted manor,” “novelette length,” “meddling ghost,” and “early Victorian period.”

The relief I felt when I discovered that the expression "full-steam" has been in use since 1812! #HistoricalRomance

Happy Friday! This snippet from my debut romance isn't quite a #FridayKiss, but it's close. #HistoricalRomance #FantasyRomance
Textured pinkish background with a white floral border at the top. White text reads: “At last, feeling like he had to say something, he whispered, ‘It would not be terrible to be married to you.’
Emma did not answer. Perhaps she had not heard him? A suspicion suddenly struck him. To confirm it, he reached down to lift her chin up slightly so that he could see her face. Yes, she had fallen asleep on his lap, like an overtired child.
The proper thing to do would be to wake her. If she were found here, asleep in his arms—he did not want even to imagine the furor that would result.” Below and to the left of the main text, smaller italicized white letters read “The Solitary Rose.”

I feel like I've heard the second syllable pronounced in a couple of different ways (like Vaux-ull vs. Vaux-hall), but if there are any Londoners reading this, maybe they can weigh in?
annerollins23.bsky.social
I think so? "Vaux" rhymes with "fox" or "box."

It OUGHT to be a silent X, right? It just looks like a word that should have a silent X. 🤣
annerollins23.bsky.social
Confession of an American who reads Regency romance: I always assumed the "x" in "Vauxhall" was silent. I thought it was pronounced something like "Voe-hall."

Reader, the "x" is not silent. 🤣 #historicalromance

We Are Thrilled to Announce We Have Invented Portals, but Are Saddened to Reveal They Suck
We, the computer scientists and engineers of this nation, are pleased to announce that we have invented actual, real-life portals. However, we are ...

The OED's earliest example of "meteor shower" may be from 1850, but we're going to pretend the phrase was in use decades earlier, ok? #historicalromance
