He was supposed to be the next Havroun of Raven, but he abandoned his studies to find his own path and then went down the whole Slayer/Commander/Wayfinder pipeline.
As a result, he has now anger issues.
He later went back to seek forgiveness from Raven, that's how he got Nevermore.
